We are pleased to announce that our original brand, “COYUI SERIES,” has been awarded the “2023 Good Design Award” by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, a public interest incorporated foundation.
This marks our third design award, following the “DFA Design for Asia Awards” in Hong Kong and the “iF DESIGN AWARD 2023” in Germany. We would like to once again express our gratitude to Ms. Kaori Akiyama, who was in charge of the design, and to everyone else involved.

＜Review Comments＞
Due to changes in lifestyles—such as living environments and family structures, which are particularly noticeable in urban areas across Japan—there is a growing demand for modern, simple-design Buddhist altars and accessories that are more compact and blend seamlessly into everyday living spaces, rather than the traditional altars adorned with lacquer and gold leaf. While this demand is strong, there are also many products that lack the solemnity and sense of reverence inherent in a space where one should stand tall, face the altar, and join one’s hands in prayer. This series is an ambitious collection featuring a variety of Buddhist altars, memorial tablets, and other accessories, all designed with a consistent aesthetic using a wide range of materials and colors. It offers not only a sense of overall unity but, above all, a serene, dignified, and elegant atmosphere. Its relatively affordable price range is also an attractive feature.

Established in 1957, it is Japan’s only comprehensive system for evaluating and recommending design. As a movement aimed at enhancing industry and lifestyle culture through design, it has attracted the participation of numerous companies and designers from both Japan and abroad. To date, more than 50,000 awards have been presented, and the “G Mark”—the symbol of the award—is widely recognized as a mark of good design.
